Cardo Packtalk Bold / Slim Battery Guide: Check the Model Before Repair
Is your Cardo Packtalk running out of power before the ride is over? Before choosing a replacement battery, establish which Packtalk you own and whether the problem is stored energy, charging or the audio connection.
Packtalk Bold and Packtalk Slim belong to the same product family, but they do not have the same physical battery arrangement. A shared replacement listing is not a shared teardown procedure.
Replacement listing: STARNOVO 3.7V 800mAh battery listed for Cardo Packtalk applications. The product title lists SRPT0102 and BAT00007; have your service provider compare the original pack and exact device before ordering.
Bold and Slim: the battery is not in the same place
Cardo's Bold-versus-Slim comparison explains that the Bold integrates its battery with the main unit, while the Slim places the battery at the back of the helmet. That distinction matters when discussing the enclosure, cables, mounting and service access.
Record the actual model printed on your unit and photograph its external label. If your packaging or purchase record says “Duo,” do not use that wording alone to select an internal pack. Confirm the individual unit's model and original battery configuration with the provider.
Similarly, “Scala Rider” is not a sufficient fit specification. This article does not extend the replacement to Q2, G4/G9, Packtalk Edge, Neo or other families merely because they share a brand or product category.
Follow Cardo's charging checks before opening anything
For a unit that is not charging or no longer lasts as expected, Cardo's Packtalk Bold support page and Packtalk Slim support page advise a continuous charge of at least four hours, then trying a different wall charger and USB cable if the issue remains. If it still does not charge or hold a charge, contact support.
Use the charging setup appropriate to your exact model. The charging advice assumes an intact device: stop using and charging a unit with unusual heat, swelling, leakage or enclosure distortion and seek assistance instead.
Inspect the external cable and port for visible damage without inserting metal tools or forcing the connector. Record whether charging is intermittent when the cable moves. A damaged port or charging circuit will not necessarily be repaired by replacing a cell.
Did the intercom switch off, or did the conversation drop?
Make this check while parked, not while riding. A unit that powers off or gives low-battery warnings has a different symptom from one that remains powered while intercom audio disappears.
For a connection complaint, follow the exact model's pairing and communication troubleshooting. For reduced runtime, compare sessions with similar functions and volume, noting whether you used music, calls or intercom. Different usage makes a simple hours-to-hours comparison less reliable.
A new battery supplies stored energy. It does not automatically fix group configuration, microphone faults, speaker wiring or wireless disconnections.
What the STARNOVO replacement specifications mean
The product listing provides the following replacement information:

- References listed in the product title: SRPT0102 and BAT00007

These are the STARNOVO replacement's listed specifications, not proof of the original battery configuration in every Packtalk revision. This is a third-party battery, not an original Cardo product.
Have a qualified provider compare the original pack markings, complete dimensions, connector housing, pin arrangement, polarity and wire routing. A matching voltage, similar code or physically mating connector alone is not enough to establish compatibility.
Opening the unit is a weather-protection decision
Cardo explicitly advises against users disassembling the unit or replacing the battery themselves and warns that opening it compromises waterproofing. Contact Cardo support first, particularly if service coverage may still apply.
This guide therefore does not provide an invented screw count, adhesive-removal sequence or universal Bold/Slim opening method. If considering third-party service, ask the provider to assess the exact enclosure and explain what sealing checks can be performed afterward. Do not assume a closed cover restores factory weather protection.
Test before the next ride
After service, check normal charging, startup, buttons, microphone pickup, both speakers and your usual phone or intercom connection while stationary. Have the mounting and any disturbed cables checked before refitting or relying on the device.
Compare runtime under similar use. An 800mAh rating does not guarantee a fixed number of riding hours or restore a published maximum. Do not test enclosure sealing by spraying or immersing the repaired unit.
For replacement-fit questions, email sales@starnovo.com with the full unit model and original battery information supplied by your repair provider. Do not open the device solely to obtain a battery photograph.
