Logitech H800 / H820e Battery Dead? Don’t Bin the Headset — Swap the Cell
Logitech H800 or H820e battery dying quickly? Don’t bin your headset—swapping the Li-Polymer cell is simple, cost-effective, and restores original talk time.
Logitech H800 and H820e are different headsets:
- H800: Bluetooth + USB nano dongle, on-ear consumer/prosumer headset.
- H820e: DECT 1900 MHz business headset, USB charging base, up to ~8h talk time.
But they share the same repair story: the rechargeable Li-Polymer cell ages out, and suddenly the headset “isn’t worth fixing” to most people.
It usually is.
STARNOVO keeps H800 / H820e-family cells in production:
Compatible Replacement: 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery For Logitech H800 & H820e Wireless Headsets (OEM Part: 533-000067 / 533-000095)
1. The Symptoms Are Almost Always the Battery
Logitech H800 Symptoms:
- Dies quickly: Shuts down in 20–40 min instead of ~6h.
- Inaccurate indicator: Green LED lies and cuts off mid-Zoom.
- Cradle-only use: Only works while sitting on the cradle or charger.
- Rattle inside: Left cup feels like something is loose inside.
Logitech H820e Symptoms:
- Reduced talk time: Base indicates charging, but talk time drops from 8h to 2h.
- Docking inconsistency: Headset won’t leave the base reliably.
- Inaccurate display: LED/battery bar under-reports remaining capacity.
- Sudden dropouts: DECT range feels fine, but audio drops abruptly even with a fresh cell.
None of these mean the radio is broken. They simply mean the Li-Po cell has lost capacity or increased in internal resistance.
2. What Battery Is Inside?
Logitech H800
- Chemistry: 3.7V Li-Polymer
- Capacity: ~230 / 265mAh OEM-class (Part numbers: 533-000067, AHB472625PST)
- Dimensions: ~28 × 28 × 6.5 mm
- Location: Left earcup, behind the round cover
Logitech H820e
- Chemistry: 3.7V Li-Polymer
- Capacity: 450mAh class, 1.67Wh (OEM part 533-000095)
- Dimensions: ~31.57 × 28.72 × 5.90 mm
- Access: Logitech calls it “non-accessible / proprietary”, but aftermarket swaps exist
STARNOVO’s H800/H820e listings commonly show a 3.7V Li-Polymer, ~400mAh cross cell (model SNO-652528PCN) pitched for both headsets.
Golden Rule: Match 3.7V + correct connector + H800 or H820e footprint. Never force a fat generic pouch in.
3. Don’t Mix Up the Two Repairs
- H800 right-cup guide: Fixes buttons and rattles (T5 + Phillips #000) — not the battery.
- H800 battery location: Left cup, twist cover, pop clip.
- H820e design: No obvious user battery door; you remove the earcup shell / access the cell behind the cup, then seat it so the charging base can communicate with the cell.
Quick tip: The H820e base communicates with the battery’s protection/BMS. A brand-new cell at storage voltage may show a charge error the first time. Fix: Seat headset on base, wait ~60s, lift, and reseat. Most bases recover in 2–3 cycles.
4. H800 Battery Swap — Field Guide
- Slide the power switch on the right cup to OFF.
- Discharge below ~25% if possible.
- On the left cup, rotate the battery cover counterclockwise.
- Lift the cover; the cell sits in a shallow recess.
- Lift the cell ~0.5 cm, taking care not to pull on the wires.
- Use a fingernail or spudger to lift the flat connector at the top.
- Walk the plug out gently by the plastic frame.
- Drop in the STARNOVO H800 cell, routing the cable exactly like OEM.
- Ensure red-to-red polarity alignment on the connector.
- Tuck flat, close the cover, and rotate clockwise to lock.
- Perform a full charge before your first call.
5. H820e Battery Swap — Field Guide
- Power the headset off and place it off the base.
- Remove the earcup cushion ring.
- Take out the small Torx/Phillips screws on the cup shell.
- Separate the shell gently — the DECT antenna and boom-mic flex are fragile.
- Locate the Li-Po pack near the hinge/PCB side.
- Unplug the small connector by the plastic housing.
- Remove the old 533-000095 cell.
- Fit the STARNOVO H820e/H800-family cell without folding or pinching wires.
- Reassemble the shell and reinstall the cushion.
- Place on the Logitech base → wait 60s → reseat if base errors.
- Run 2–3 full charge/discharge cycles before judging runtime.
H820e note: The base may under-report battery runtime until the new cell finishes conditioning. That is normal and not a defective cell.
6. What to Expect After You Swap
Logitech H800:
- Runtime recovers back to the original ~6h range.
- Bluetooth + dongle functionality remain unchanged.
- “Low battery” warning stops firing at minute 25.
Logitech H820e:
- Talk time recovers toward the rated ~8h.
- DECT call audio stops dropping under transmission load.
- Base LED and battery bar recalibrate after a few cycles.
Troubleshooting: If still unresponsive, clean the base contacts with isopropyl alcohol, verify the Logitech power adapter (5.1V/1A), and inspect the physical charge pins.
7. Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Wrong earcup: Thinking the H800 battery is in the right cup.
- Pulling wires: Yanking the cable instead of gripping the connector.
- Wrong size: Buying an oversized generic “3.7V 1000mAh” pouch and forcing the shell closed.
- Unrealistic expectations: Expecting the H800 to become an all-day headset.
- Premature evaluation: Judging H820e runtime after only one partial charge.
- Safety hazard: Using metal tools or puncturing near the pouch cell.
