Sena SRL / SRL2 Battery Guide: Identify the Intercom, Not Just the SHOEI Helmet
Your SHOEI helmet's communication system still works, but no longer lasts through a ride. Before choosing a battery, identify the Sena intercom installed inside the helmet—not just the helmet name.
GT-Air II, J-Cruise II and Neotec II identify helmet models. SRL and SRL2 identify communication systems. Those are related compatibility questions, but they are not interchangeable battery specifications.
Replacement listing: STARNOVO 3.7V 800mAh replacement battery listed for Sena SRL-family helmet intercoms. Verify the exact unit, original pack and connections before ordering or installation.
Start with two separate model checks
Helmet identification: Record the full SHOEI helmet model and, where relevant, its production information. This helps the installer choose the correct communication-system mounting instructions.
Intercom identification: Record whether the installed system is SRL, SRL2 or another SRL-family product. Use the unit label and documentation rather than assuming that every intercom fitted to the same helmet uses an identical pack.
Sena's SRL2 product information lists GT-Air II, Neotec II and J-Cruise II helmet applications. Its model-specific support also describes production-date considerations for SRL2 installation in Neotec II. An installer should check the exact helmet and system combination rather than treating the helmet family name as sufficient.
SRL and SRL2 are related, but a battery match still needs checking
In its SRL-versus-SRL2 explanation, Sena describes shared hardware and different microphone arrangements. The SRL uses a fixed boom microphone, while SRL2 provides detachable microphone options.
That information helps identify the system, but it does not independently prove that a particular third-party battery fits every production revision. Likewise, it does not justify using a generic opening sequence across the range.
Do not extend this replacement listing to SRL-Mesh, SRL-EXT, SRL3, 20S or SMH5 solely because the names or functions appear similar.
Does it lose power, or only lose audio?
Make the checks while parked in a safe place. Note whether the intercom shuts down, gives a low-battery warning, remains powered but loses its phone connection, or has audio missing from one speaker.
A connection problem, microphone fault or disturbed speaker lead does not automatically identify a worn battery. Use the appropriate Sena instructions to investigate the affected function before approving internal work.
For a runtime complaint, compare sessions using similar volume and functions. Record charging behavior and whether the cable connection is intermittent. Follow the exact model's charging instructions and inspect the accessible cable and port for visible damage without inserting tools into the connector.
What is confirmed by the replacement listing?
The STARNOVO product title lists an 800mAh, 3.7V replacement and mentions SRL-01, SP51 and SRL2 alongside the SHOEI helmet applications. These are listing identifiers, not a verified universal OEM battery reference for every installed system.
The current product description does not provide complete pack dimensions. Before ordering, ask us for the missing measurements and have the service provider compare them with the original pack. Do not assume that a capacity rating establishes a safe physical fit.
- Confirm the original pack: Full label markings, nominal voltage and complete size.
- Confirm the connection: Connector housing, contact functions, polarity and lead arrangement.
- Confirm available space: The replacement must fit without compression or pinched wiring.
- Confirm the application: The exact intercom matters more than the helmet name alone.
This is a third-party STARNOVO replacement, not an original Sena or SHOEI battery. Its listed capacity does not guarantee the original manufacturer's maximum talk time.
Protect the helmet as well as the electronics
Have a qualified provider assess internal battery service and use instructions appropriate to the exact communication system and helmet. This article does not provide a verified battery-removal procedure.
Do not cut, drill or compress the helmet shell or impact-absorbing liner to make a battery or cable fit. Follow SHOEI's instructions for handling removable comfort components, and keep intercom wiring clear of retention-system components and moving mechanisms.
Stop using and charging the system if there is swelling, leakage, unusual heat or a distorted battery enclosure. Do not force a module or cover closed against a pack. Ask the provider what enclosure and weather-protection checks are required after service; reassembly alone does not establish restored sealing.
Finish with a stationary function test
Before the next ride, verify normal charging and startup, both speakers, microphone pickup, buttons and your usual phone or intercom connection. Have any disturbed mounting and cable routing checked, and confirm that helmet fit and retention operation remain correct.
Evaluate runtime under comparable use. A battery repair may address capacity loss, but will not repair every audio fault or guarantee a fixed riding duration.
