Discussion:I've had my Sena SRL-Mesh in my Shoei GT Air 2 for several years and over the last several months my battery capacity has been tanking. I'm lucky to get 2.5 - 3.5 hours out of it. And that's with the thing warning me the battery level is low several times before it simply shuts down. From what I can tell my options are to either replace the entire system (hundreds $$$$) or replace the battery. Even though this battery isn't listed as compatible with my SRL-Mesh it looked to be the closest match I could find so my though is what the heck I'll give it a try. After all the worst that could happen is I break my comm system or catch it on fire. And yes, experimenting with stuff like this is a 'do it at your own risk' kind of endeavor. So experimenter beware.The original battery in my unit is marked as 770 mAh and 3.8 volts. LiPo batteries typically run 3.7 volts so I'm not sure where they came up with the 3.8. This replacement battery is listed as 800 mAh so it should provide a modest capacity increase.Note this battery has 3 wires. There are many that look compatible and have only 2 wires - they will NOT work in the SRL-Mesh system. It has to have 3 wires. This battery fits the bill and uses an identical connector.The attached video shows how I installed this. Again this is a 'do it at your own risk' kind of project. I'm not sure my procedure is correct or not but it worked for me. At least so far. There are a few things to really pay attention to during this process. First the screws are tiny and can easily be lost. Do all work over a surface that will aid in locating them if they drop. Second when this battery is connected I'd suggest running a quick test on your unit to ensure it powers up. If it doesn't then dealing with the problem while everything is apart is the way to go. Third, take pictures or video when pulling things apart to help guide you if there are questions during reassembly.Pros:-- Fits-- Works-- Seems to charge like stock unit-- No fires so farCons:-- Care must be taken due to small parts and hazardous materialsBottom Line:So far I'm happy my SRL-Mesh system's life has been extended. My hope is this will last 2-3 years. By then I'll probably be ready to throw my SRL-Mesh and old helmet in the trash.
